There has been a roll of film sitting on my desk for a couple of months, waiting to be developed. I finally got to it this weekend and had completely forgotten what might be on it.
These were all taken on January 13 earlier this year, the day the Brisbane River broke it's banks and flooded large parts of the city and surrounding districts. This is a local park and farmers market that I see and vist so often, it was surreal to see it all under water.
We were evacuated from work in the city a couple of days before this. Everyone I know stocked up on groceries and sand bags. Some had the opportunity to move offices and homes to higher ground. We all waited for the predicted high tide and hoped for the best, and we were very lucky. So many people lost their homes, their businesses and worse, their lives.
